The Reading Football League is the largest, best established and most active Saturday Football League in the Thames Valley area. It was formed in 1988 with the merger of Reading and District and Reading Combination Leagues and brought together a considerable amount of local support and football history. Though initially comprised of ten divisions, there are currently six, Division One to Four, plus the Premier Division and the John Dell Senior Division. The later is placed at step 7 of the National League System and feeds the Hellenic League (covering Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Herefordshire and Middlesex) and the Combined Counties League (covering Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and Greater London). The standard League programme is complimented by a number of Cup Competitions including the Reading Challenge Cup, the BTC Cup and the Berks & Bucks Cup.
